Victoire De Castellane ‎- Pas D’Hélices Aux Avions

Pas D’Hélices Aux Avions is an EP released by Victoire De Castellane ‎on the label Carrere in 1987. This EP is chanson.

This is such a great chanson EP. The first track, Pas D’Hélices Aux Avions, has such a great 80s pop sound. Really cheesy but catchy melodies, dated drums, and great singing, all with heavy pop vibes. I really love this track~

The second track,  Ondes De Choc, takes the release in a somewhat different direction. Still obviously pop, but is really obviously a B-Side due to the obviously lower level of production. This track is still awesome though. It has a club beat, but much slower melodies. It sounds more emotional than the other track which is just full on fun. I really like the melodies, her singing, and the vibes/atmosphere on this track.

Friandises ‎- Les Moules Et Les Frites

Les Moules Et Les Frites is an EP by Friandises ‎that was released on the label Philips in 1983. This release is French synth-pop.

This is a really awesome two track EP. The tracks are fun and full of great sounding sounds that I’ve only heard in underground 80s pop. There’s also a very obvious French vibe to this release, especially when the accordion comes in. Accordion + synth pop sounds like it might be an odd mix, but it sounds awesome. The melodies and singing is great too.

This is such an amazing album~! This is really some top notch pop music. The melodies on this album are really good. The vibes in this album are so nice, mostly happy and fun with a good amount variety of melodies and feels. Lio’s singing and voice is really awesome too. Everything in this album is awesome.

Christian Kubiak ‎- Femme Symphonie

Femme Symphonie is a single by Christian Kubiak ‎that was self-released in 1987. This single is French pop. I also can only find one of the two tracks that are on this (yep one of those posts).

This is a pretty nice pop track. Its upbeat and has a fun vibe to it. The percussion is similar to drum n bass. The melodies are fun and good and the vocals are nice too. Also, he looks like the Shamwow guy.

Christelle – Brouillard Sur Londres

Brouillard Sur Londres is a single by Christelle that was released in 1985 on the label Slim Productions. This single is French pop.

This is a pretty nice little pop tune. Dated awesome melodies over very 80s sounded drums. Accompanied by Christelle’s singing which goes along perfectly with the melodies/vibe/tones. The melodies have a slightly serious feel to them, and the track doesn’t have a fun/happy sound to it, but still stays very poppy. Track uses both synths and guitars for the melody.

Aäkon Këëtrëh – The Dark Winter

The Dark Winter is an album by Aäkon Këëtrëh that was self-released in 1997. This album is black ambient.

This is a really awesome album and one of my favorite black ambient albums, one of my favorite ambient albums in general. For those who don’t know, black ambient is like if black metal and dark ambient had a baby. The genre can sometimes get rather experimental and its not to be confused with dark ambient which is different.

This album has a great diversity to it yet all the tracks totally work with and compliment eachother. The guitar ranges from slow repetitive strumming, to rather ambient riffs (sometimes in very non-black metal melodies), black metal riffs, and more guitar stuff (sometimes in non-black metal melodies). The usage of the varying melody styles is really cool, especially when he can make even the not as dark melodies sound dark.

The vocals are mostly really soft in this. Slow ghostly singing that becomes an ethereal sonic shroud around the guitar. There is also very softly and quietly spoken vocals and black metal shrieks too. The album is really slow and has such an awesome atmosphere. The release also has zero percussion too, even in the tracks which are much more noticeably black metal related never fully develop into full-on black metal.

Asylum Party ‎- Borderline

Borderline is an album by Asylum Party that was released on the label Lively Art in 1989. This album is new wave and cold wave.

This album is amazing~! When I first heard this album it instantly sucked me in and I stayed that way from start to finish. The melodies in this album are awesome. The melodies are done using keyboards, guitars, and bass. The melodies have a very good sound but are kinda tricky to explain. The singing is very good too and very much fits the sound of the album. The atmosphere and emotion in this album is awesome, which is one of the thing that pulled me into it so fast, that and the excellent melodies. This album is really good.
