Mura No Kajiya is an EP by ほぶらきん (aka Hoburakin, aka Hovlakin) released in 1980 on Vanity Records. This album is scum. Scum is a Japanese subgenre of punk, it usually has limited supplies, singing that most people would despise, and most people I’ve brought it up to don’t consider it punk, but it 100% is a punk subgenre, and it’s amazing. Sometimes the genre is grindcore, this is not from the grindcore side.
This album/band has a childish vibe to it. There’s even what sounds like a recorder in the first song. It also has this children’s music like vibe because of the melodies, simple and happy, but with a grown man yelling over it and trying his hardest to sing. I really love this band.
They’re also what inspired the modern scum musician No.305, so if you like him you’ll like ほぶらきん.
Listen here and I also put a video of one of their gigs
