Nodens Ictus – Spacelines

Spacelines is an album by Nodens Ictus first released in 2000 on Stretchy Records. Later released on Original Masters in 2002, self-released in 2010, and there’s a Russian bootleg too. Nodens Ictus was started in 1989 and is made up of some of the members from Ozric Tentacles and Eat Static. This keeps the space theme of those two projects but the music goes in a much more ambient direction.

This is a very nice ambient/downtempo album. Lots of synth play that sounds space-related but not overly sci-fi. The melodies are very nice and often loop and gradually build throughout the tracks. The percussion ranges between more jazzy-esque percussion to more world music-esque drumming. There’s also a flute or saxophone or something similar that appears throughout the album. This is a really relaxing and awesome album.
